Like any other animals, there are many important breed-related factors to think about before choosing birds.
It is vital that birds are matched to the owners, and that breed temperament is suited to the environment in which they are kept.
Chickens can be kept as pets, for breeding, egg laying or as a food product.
There are many different breeds that come in a variety of colours. So you would need to do your research based on what you want them for.
The poultry we currently have for breeding and hatching eggs are;
The Pekin bantam is a variety of true bantam chicken, this means it has no large fowl equivalent.
They lay small cream coloured eggs, do not require a lot of room and their mild temperament makes handling, quite easy and rewarding.
A little bird that anybody from 0 to 100 love to see. although it lays only small eggs in small numbers. They are great as part of a starter kit for children. They makes a great broody bird and a super mother.
Mixed Colours Polishs
The Polish are very different from any other breeds of chicken in term of their appearance. They are amusing to watch and due to their limited vision (because of their crests restricting their vision), they are normally calmer than other breeds.
